Poem

In lieu of a new post critiquing some random bullshit, or channeling my inner monologue onto the written screen, I’ve decided to share a poem I wrote with y’all. I am back home for a bit, and it’s got me feeling a certain way. I’m having issues with formatting so to separate the stanzas I’ve added dashes here and there. Enjoy!

Memories of a distant past:

Surrounded by a zoo,

Marble under my feet,

Tummy red with joy.

The week ends underground,

Mirror peeking into my soul.

Two roads set to diverge

Brought back together—

Under construction.

Arabic risen,

English fallen.

Running to and fro.

Eluded belonging.

Time passes by

All too fast.

The sun returns

At dawn

To a new day,

But no zoo.
